It's that time of year again. I turned 50 years old on August 27th and ended up running 50.37 miles from here to Pacifica, over to SFO, and hugging the bay all the way home! As l've done for the past three years, I run to raise money for one of my favorite San Francisco organizations, City of Dreams, by putting the old body on the line. Best, Danny
P.S. Over the past few years, your support during my birthday runs has raised more than $25,000 for City of Dreams. Let’s keep it going!

WHAT SETS US APART?
In the past few years, our email list has exponentially grown. It occurred to me that all these prospective attendees may not know what to expect or may not know what makes The Butterfly Joint so special. If you or your child are new to The Butterfly Joint community and have yet to attend a camp, I would like to formally welcome you!
Firstly, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Danny Montoya and I am a credentialed early-childhood educator with more than a decade of experience in the classroom (7 years as a first grade teacher and 5 years in K). I am a life-long educator who entered the profession at the ripe age of 20 and my yearning to focus on early childhood education was a direct result of my personal experiences as a student.
My goals as a teacher are centered around socialization, social justice, problem-solving, and creating a positive learning environment which models and teaches personal responsibility, confidence, independence, resiliency, antiracism and advocacy to our students. The most important piece of ensuring this happens is our focus on reinforcing manners and teaching the concept of empathy and "being polite". I would hope at this point, The Butterfly Joint is known as much for this as it is for teaching woodworking to kids!
Another aspect that sets us apart is that this is an owner-operated business. That means, when you call, you speak with me. When you email, it is me who responds. When your child attends a class or camp, it is me instructing them! In my opinion, this creates a consistency and quality in our offerings that many other programs lack.
I can assure you, The Butterfly Joint is an experience unlike any other. I take great pride in the fact that we are not simply here to babysit -- we are here to educate. I take child development extremely seriously and my greatest hope is that it is apparent in the work we do here. Ultimately, we are a community and are charged with raising one another's children along with our own. And with all that said, I am happy to welcome you and your family to The Butterfly Joint community!
